Is it possible for me to easily start a random video by tv show? I have like 200 episodes of South Park and it would be so great if I could just select South Park > Play Random and XBMC could start playing a South Park video by random.

Yea so I created a smart playlist for each of my shows and unfortunately that doesn't accomplish the task. The smart playlist creates a random list of episodes but they're always in the same order. So this is really no better than just browsing them and playing them chronologically.

Is there no way to just tell XBMC to pick 1 random episode from a TV series and play it

This is my xsp; perhaps there is a setting I can put in here that won't give me the "random" list in the same order every time its run?

Sorry, it looks like the root of my problem is the Aeon skin; which lacks a lot of the advanced functionality of the default PM3.HD skin. I was finally able to access the Now Playing screen using PM3 and then setting Video Playlists to 'Shuffle' and then switching back to Aeon.
