[Linux] missing black backgrounds

using sabayon w/ xbmc-9.11-r4

When loaded it does not display the black boxs behind the lists and menu choices. This also makes it hard to see which choice I have selected. Changing the theme does nothing (new theme same problem). Renaming ~/.XBMC does nothing. Re-installing/emerging does nothing.

What can I do?

Edit:

After a update to kde 4.5 and two reboots later the problem went away by itself. Don't know why, but as long as it works I'm happy.
