[MOD] Custom Home Items the easy way

hi tried to use your mod and is not working (trying in english but no easy being a spanish guy living in France)

more details

using xbmc pre 10.5 r28256
using it in portable mode because testing some features and like this being able to have the DB at a glance (not sure is the best way)
have 2 profiles (master user and kids) because was the way i ve founded for having kids films separately

i have copy your files even create the addon folder djtoll talk about but nothing happens when launching in portable mode but if i run it normally (surely my DB is empty and also all the parameters (profiles, meteo, spanish, etc...) but then i see your custom home

any ideas?

is it the portable mode? or the profile option?

No it's that you are on an older build - r28256...You need on a current 10.5 build of XBMC.

is it possible to add sub menus?

Technically yes but I wouldn't count on me in near future(1 month). Actually subs are easy, the Home with all the backdrop code and whatnot is the time consuming part, so who knows...

Just noticed a couple minor errors, fixed and link updated...

Great mod, very good. Confluence is my favorite skin so far, and adding items to the home menu might be simple for those used to coding, but not for common mortals really. An essential feature.

Some requests:

altering the order of the items in home menu
custom sub menus would be... wonderful really
editing already existing items and sub menus would be great too.

This is a great mod..but could you assist with helping those of us interested in doing it a bit manually? I'd love to know how to actually edit the skin, not just hope someone more skilled than me can make something for it.

I'd like to know how to rename this skin? I'd like to have confluence and confluence-custom, or something like that.

in skin folder you'll see addon.xml open that up and you'll see this block at the top:

Quote: id="skin.night"
version="1.4.6"
name="Night"

change to:

Quote: id="skin.whateveryouwant"
version="1.4.6"
name="whateveryouwant"

Not sure if required but I'd change the folder name from skin.night to skin.whateveryouwant
