Problem playing cd/dvd
#1
Hello all. For some reason XBMC refuses to play any dvd or audio-cd (or any kind of disc actually). It just spits out a message like "XBMC could not find a disc".

I'm running XBMC on top of Lucid Lynx. The funny thing is, that Ubuntu has no problem auto-detecting and playing the discs, but as soon as I log out of Ubuntu and back into XBMC the problem is there.

Help would be much appreciated.

Okay, just some more info. dmesg spits this out when I insert audio-cd:

Code:
[  123.115232] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE
[  123.115244] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Illegal Request [current]
[  123.115254] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: Illegal mode for this track
[  123.115267] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] CDB: Read(10): 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00
[  123.115285] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 0
[  123.115295] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 0
[  123.115303] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 1

This is repeated many times. Not sure what it means, though. But as said, it works perfectly well when booting into Ubuntu, just not in XBMC.

I think it's a libcdio bug with the version in Lucid.

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8026

No idea when it will be fixed, though.

I should mention that it's fixed in SVN.

Not that I recommend updating to an unfinished version.

That being said, no show stoppers for the build from 3 hours ago. I've explored quite a bit.

Thanks for the info.

Guess I have to decide whether to try out svn or go back to Jaunty.
