DVD Disc flags and disabling the 3d 'box' image?
#1
Hi to all! This is my first post, I hope I am welcomed into the community.

First of all thank you so much to the people that have made this skin and xbmc what it is. It is frankly unbelievable!

I just had some quick questions. About half of my movie collection is made up of .iso image files from dvds. Is it possible at all to have a media flag that indicates that it is a dvd disc? Ie. so that I can differentiate when browsing my movies folder which movies are actually going to load as a proper dvd? I have been able to do this with my blu-ray images but not my dvd images...

Second, I love the 3d views, but is it possible in any way to remove the effect that makes each icon look like a dvd "box" and just have a flat icon (while still being organised on the angle)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not a huge fan of having a flag for every little thing but if you want maybe I can guide you through...

Same with the 3d box, I'm not a fan of having options for hundreds of small tweaks, but if you want I could give you some tips of what to delete...

If its not too much trouble for you, then I would really appreciate even just being pointed in the right direction on how to make the two above things happen.

I took the initiative of trying to add the DVD disc flag myself by adding in a dvd.png file into the media>flagging>video folder which I just copy and pasted from one of my other skins but it didn't work (ie. it didnt flag files named movie.dvd.iso as dvd discs in the night skin). I'm new to all of this but very happy to play around with it.

Obviously there is something fundamental that stops this basic method of working, so I'd be very interested and appreciative of being shown a workaround.

Thank you very much in advance!

this (the DVD flagging) has been added to latest release, so if you get the newest version you will have your dvd flags.

Really? Hmm that's funny because I only installed the skin a few days ago. Maybe it was because I downloaded an older version (not through GIT) as I have had a lot of problems with GIT and thus can't use it.

I will try get the latest version.

Edit: Updated to the latest version and I'm still having major problems getting any sort of flagging to appear with my .iso files. I am naming my .iso files as eg. CasinoRoyale.dvd.iso yet having no luck whatsoever. Is there a special folder I need to put these in that would help with the handling of .iso files? (Note: playback is perfect).

Does flagging working any other skin? Don't quote me but I don't think XBMC can scrape metadata, the stuff used for flags, form .iso's. Maybe someone who has .iso's know more...

Yeah for example in aeon It comes up with all flags for every file type so long as i name the file as I have done above (although for .iso files it will only show the DVD flag, and also the studio flag). Just can't figure out why it won't do the same in Night. Your Night-Skin looks absolutely amazing, if I could get studio flags and DVD flags to show (if possible on the wall view) it would be perfect!

I have the same issue nate...Its because XBMC cant/doesnt scrape metadata from .iso files. so you only get the source flag if it is in the filename. I have been trying to move away from .isos for that reason.

You could try a scraper program like Ember Media Manager. I'm not sure if they handle ISOs but if it does than it will do all the scraping for you and you can customize your movies till your heart's content.

If this is still an issue:
Ember Media Manager actually has an addon (via addon manager) which is an older version of the mediainfo tool (reads metadata). That way ist's actually working for ISOs!
Although I'm not sure if that is what nate44 really wanted/needed. But maybe useful information nonetheless Smile

Yeah...I was trying to resolve flagging with both EMM and MediaCompanion. Both use Mediaindo.dll - that doesn't support ISO's for some reason. Pity.

One thing I find strange is that nfo files are supposed to contain all the info you want locally. When you use EMM or MC on a Video_TS file, they automatically install the output into the nfo file - yet....XBMC overwrites this info in every case - no matter what is in the nfo file. Doesn't make sense to me.

I still haven't gotten the 'DVD' flags working for .iso files yet. Every other file type shows all the relevant flags (except studio - which doesn't bother me) however .iso files still don't show any flags whatsoever for me. It's a small price to pay to use this great skin though.
