I have an acer revo 3600 running Ubuntu 10.04 with XBMC from the stable PPA on it. I have set up an image source to a mac on the LAN. When I browse through the folders you can see the filenames, but when you try and display a photo then just a blank screen is shown. Note that no thumbnails are shown either. The photos are ~3MB in size JPEG.

Any idea what could be going wrong and how I could debug it? What more information do you need. The debug log says this for example:
21:29:19 T:2998926192 M:911183872 ERROR: Texture manager unable to load file: smb://BREWER-IMAC/Shared/iPhoto Library/Originals/2010/New Forest 2010 part 1/DSCF6455.JPG
21:30:42 T:3019221872 M:907476992 ERROR: CreateThumbnail: Unable to create thumbfile special://masterprofile/Thumbnails/Pictures/4/4fc2cc94.tbn from image smb://BREWER-IMAC/Shared/iPhoto Library/Originals/2010/New Forest 2010 part 1/DSCF6455.JPG

Running videos from the same machine seems to be working fine.

Many thanks

Check the permission on the photos. Make sure they are readable by users on the system.

The problem was that I wasn't logged in as a user but as a guest. Many thanks.
