Hi,
Does/will/is it possible to add support for IIS Smooth Streaming Videos? The format is based on fragmented MP4 videos delivered over regular HTTP. From what I have learnt so far (which is not much), the video and audio fragments are actually in a MP4 format but are missing the ftyp and moov atom. Apparently, most of this information is actually available for each video in what's called a Manifest file, which specifies the codec type, bitrate and where each chunk is split.
A technical overview (from Microsoft) is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en
and some other announcement info was discussed here.
Implementing this in XBMC will give wider internet streaming support, allowing users to use XBMC for viewing content which exclusively uses this format, and watch video that can adapt to bandwidth constraints.
Thanks,
Adam
