Invalid Computer Name adding Win7 video source
#1
Sorry, this has been asked in several threads, but none of the solutions are working for me.

The problem is, in XBMC on my XBox, I go to add video source, then Windows Network (SMB), then WORKGROUP. In there I see the PC (new computer running Windows 7) but when I select it, after a while I get the message "Invalid Computer Name"!

I checked the Advanced Sharing setting, I have turned off password-protected sharing.

I tried turning off auto-tuning MTU, and forcing it to 1492 in the registry.

I forced the computer to be on a home network not public.

Windows Live Sign-In Assistant or whatever, that isn't installed in the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.

There is another Windows 7 computer on my network that shares just fine.

I don't have any firewall (that I know of) installed on this computer.

Can anyone help me diagnose this?

I am running a pretty recent T3CH build, I'm not sure how to tell what build but it's from this year.

Thank you.

try searching the forums for 'windows live sign in assisstant' or for 'windows live essentials beta'

that might be the cause of your problem

Xbox isnt supported anymore. There was a forum moved to another site for Xbox. I only bring this up because you have one person about an Xbox issue and then others feel like its an open invitation.
