After starting to watch TV with xbmc I noticed a nice new feature for me in xbmc, the "Crop black bars" setting for videos.
Which I then noticed that can't be used with VDPAU, which then makes it pretty unusable for my ION setup with current configuration possibilities.
I then started looking for possibilities for additional configuration options for the videocodecs, to disable VDPAU only for SD TV transmissions, and leave it on atleast for HD content which the ION setup can't decode in software.
Then I found info about playercorefactory.xml which would seem to do this needed configuration, almost.
The only problem being that playercorefactory.xml can't be used to configure the internal dvdplayer and paplayer.
So my feature suggestion is to add the functionality of configuring the internal players settings also via playercorefactory.xml
And of course if someone has a quick patch to disable VDPAU for mpeg2, that would also solve my issue as a short term solution
