Interlace Probelm when playing TV recordings and DVDs
#1
Question
Hi there,

after quite some time studying the wiki, the forums and the rest of the internet, I am hoping that someone out here might help me..
I am having a problem when playing TV recordings and DVDs. When the view is moving you can see stripes and the edges become very unclear. When the scene then is more static the stripes are gone and also the edges are very clear. When I play the same files with another media player (Power DVD) the picture does no show these stripes. I do not get that effect when playing .mkv files....
From my point of view that effect must have something to do with the (de-) interlacing.
In the wiki from the dvdplayer (http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=DVDPlayer) it is mentioned in the section unimplemented features that "Automatic deinterlace for interlaced DVDs on progressive TVs" is not yet implemented.. Might that explain that behaviourHuh??
In the forums I also read that there must be somewhere the possibility to do some settings concerning the interlacing. I can not find those settings in the menues... Confused
Also there must be a possibility to change the renderer. I can not find those settings either... Oo
In another thread (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=64658) I read about how to play back Blue Rays and they recommend using a tool called ReClock 1.8.5.5. Might that help? Apparentyl it has some effect on the renderer. At least that is what I understood..
I know I could use an external player for playback. But since I am very happy with XBMC otherwise and the standard player is very well integrated into XBMC I would prefer to get the default dvdplayer working properly...

Any help is greatly appreciated!! Big Grin

Thank you very much in advance!! Cool

P.S.: I have a Philipps LCD TV and a Radeon HD 4200 built in graphic processor. Maybe that helps..
