Exactly the same issue on Windows 8 when exiting the application... Nevertheless it runs ok untill I do an exit from UI. If I close it with Alt + F4 it does close but when I try starting it again it's impossible. Sometimes I see the error, sometimes it just won't start. I have to restart Windows again. It becomes frustrating. All my drivers are up to date!

A log file would help ?

This is probably because the XBMC process is still running even though the XBMC window has closed. To completely make sure XBMC has exited press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and check for XBMC.exe under the Processes tab. If it's there, right-click > 'End task'.

No need to restart Windows.

Ok, here it is when killing it: "Unable to terminate process" - The operation could not be completed Access is denied - lovely red cross Tongue.

What I find most intriguing is that on my ultrabook it works just fine - while the settings are the same. But I had the same issue at some point - and I have solved it miraculously out of the blue just reinstalling the app and / or messing around with some settings ... I don't quite understand what is wrong.
