What can you do in XBMC that you need a keyboard for? Web browsing?
I've been using it strictly for movies/tv shows.

I use mine for when I use Ubuntu. Which is primarily for watching TV via the internet and checking the odd email and logging in to my office pc. I also find when I'm updating my media files trying to type using the on screen keyboard is a real pain.

You can - it's just a bit ... tricky.
Since it won't send multiple continuous key combos you have to try to press the keys in close enough succession that the receive buffer counts it as a single keyscan ![]() Usually takes me 4 or 5 tries - rather frustrating, and about the only downside of this nice little device. Edit : hrmmmm. OK - scratch that - just retried it on my XBMC machine, and I can't get Ctrl-Alt-F(x) to work at all any more. I *swear* it used to :o but I haven't tried it in a while, and it seems that somewhere along the line after fiddling with lots of kernel updates, & LIRC configs etc it's died. Looking at xbmc.log the Rii's Fn+Enter [Ctrl-Alt-Del] gets sent as three simultaneous keyscans, so I'll play around with keymap.xml and see if I can get that transmogrified into Ctrl-Alt-F1 somehow.

Not anymore when the right arrow stopped responding after 13 months of use. Been playing with the Rii for 3-4 weeks and apart from not being as pretty as Dinovo, everything is better. And you can have 2 for the same money. |

I have one, worked fine within xbmc live and windows.
Its a shame the alt key is in fact the right hand side alt key, this means you cant change tty or alt+f4 apps closed. It has a laser pointer integrated which you may need to consider if you have kids in the home, those things can blind. |

Has anyone tried the bluetooth version of this keyboard? I understand some other BT keyboards/trackpads (e.g. the Logitech PS3 keyboard) have problems with frequent sleep disconnects and re-connects and I wanted to ensure I don't buy something that can't be used with Ubuntu + XBMC...
FYI it's available for ~ $40 from here: http://www.pandawill.com/bluetooth-wirel...37159.html |
