upnp vs mapping, which is better?
#1
I'm almost complete setting up ubuntu server to act as my nasbox and will be including upnp (mediatomb) and firefly for itunes this weekend to it.

With XBMC setup on a front end under Windows 7 (or other platform), which connection gives the best performance for streaming video, either HD, bluray, etc.?

A upnp connection or a mapped drive to the server? I think xbmc can also accept an ftp connection? Would that provide better streaming over the other two?

Has anybody attempted to benchmark the performance of each?

Thanks
PT

mapping.. upnp won't give you our library which is much better than mediatomb at scraping movie/tv show info.

ftp is horrible, so don't use. windows sharing is best currently.

Perfect. I've always used a mapped drive anyway.
