XBMC install in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic fails
#1
I'm trying to install XBMC in a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10 on my ASRock ION330HT

I've followed the XBMC install instructions in:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_i...n_step-by-step

sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-standalone
sudo apt-get update

I get the following after sudo apt-get update

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get update

The same thing happened when I tried to install XBMC on 10.04. I've searched the forum and tried all the suggested solutions, but I still get the same errors which is why I've reverted to a clean 9.10 installation which gives the errors above.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or a workaround?

Thanks,
Kevin

It seems everyone has had this problem for at least a week. I same some workarounds using wget but it failed for me getting the xbmc-main. So I installed from the xbmc-live cd and went from there. you can also compile as suggested in: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=33327&page=97
