HTPC build with new ASUS AT5IONT-I

Rolle2000 Wrote:But is there any power supply that are silent and fits into a small case?
The two reasons I choose to wait for Deluxe is for the completly silent power supply and the option to a smaller case like EM-154B.

My suggestion for that, would be:

- AT5IONT-I (regular board, not the Deluxe)
- M350 Case with Pico PSU like this http://www.mini-box.com/M350-enclosure-w...0W-adapter

Not that much beautiful, but very small and functional. This is the killer combination in my opinion, and I will be buying it as soon as I hear some reviews confirming this board can be run fanless.

I agree that the Deluxe version does not bring much advantages, the main one would be the PSU, but using this case combo solves the problem. I will be modding it with a XERC+Xbox IR dongle like show here (like shown here, so having a proper Molex coming from the PSU is even better.

You Think the 60w external powersupply in the m350 case is enough power. not putting a ssd drive in right now, gonna run live off usb; although at some point i may want to.

Gonna wait on someone to try the 2gb kingston ram, that works then my build will be as follows:

My Build:

M350 + 60W powersupply
2gb stick of kingston value ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820139049

At5ionT-I Motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6813131663

AVS Gear GP-IR01BK Windows Vista Infrared MCE Black Remote Control http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6880121003

Let me know..im gonna try to go fanless.

Seems to be a perfect build for me. As far as I know, 60W can drive the AT5IONT + 1 SSD or 2.5 HDD.

Ya, it does seem perfect. Case is ugly but uber airflow and external power seem like it would allow for worry free fanless operation. Really just holding off until i know the 2gb stick of ram will work. Kinda weird that asus dropped the ball on 2gb stick support.

In my current HTPC I had space and put a DVD reader for convenience, and in more than one time, it was useful, i.e. playing DVDs that my kid's friends came with. Maybe one can go for a USB-connected optical drive, as the M350 will not house such a drive.

True, I actually own a sony blu ray player, that i rarely use, but could come in handy for the occasional eye candy film. The dark knight looks damn good uncompressed.

Everything has arrived and put together...

Does anyone has an idea of the maximum cpu temps for this mobo? (it's around 70° now)

This is the ITX HTPC case that I am thinking about using when the DC power brick deluxe version is avail. This will make me a truely silent HTPC.

Thoughts??

Could I use a picoPSU like THIS to power the AT5IONT-I (non-deluxe)?? Has anyone used a pico psu?

Thoughts?

The case you want to use is an excellent choice, you don't need any picoPSU with it since the case comes with a bundled external 60W adapter and an internal DC-DC converter, everything you need is included.

Just buy the mobo, the RAM, a HDD/SSD and the case and you are all set.

The Tmax of the Atom D525 is 100°C, so 70° is IMHO still acceptable, but it shouldn't go much higher than that (I wouldn't want it higher than 75°).

Is that 70° you measured idle temp or under load? (I hope under load, 70° idle would be a lot)

Yes, unless you are planning to attach two 3.5" hard disks and/or a GTX460 Big Grin to it.
