what platform are you guys using? i have had problems on ios versions updating. i had to uninstall and reinstall. trying to figure out the problem.

I am looking into using zip files so it is a little faster installing and hopefully fix the ios issues.

Bluecop,

Thanks for the Hulu plugin. I just installed the new update (2.75). The faster streaming startup is awesome. Shows start in a matter of seconds rather than minutes. Wonderful!

I am experiencing a bit of a bugaboo, though. I am not a hulu plus subscriber, so I have turned off plus in the settings menu. However, all shows (plus and regular) are still showing up in the listings. In fact, the script seems to be completely ignoring the settings file since plus listings show up whether the settings are configured for plus or not.

However, I was able to "fix" this by replacing the "_menu.py" file with the one from v2.73. Now with plus turned off in the settings menu, the plus show do not display in the menu listings.

Perhaps something needs to be tweaked in the new _menu.py file.

Found it. Searched through the v2.75 _menu.py and uncommented the section which checks the settings file. Works a treat now.

Thanks for all your coding efforts.

I just tried 2.7.6 on xbmc4xbox since it works much faster on the PC now, and discovered that the Xbox version actually loads lists and starts videos even slower than before. I'm rolling back to 2.7.2 for now because even though the videos still take a minute to start, at least the lists load somewhat faster.

xbmc4xbox and the PC version have always loaded lists from Hulu at different speeds, the PC being much faster. The Xbox counts through each individual number when showing the progress, while the PC just jumps through a couple hundred at a time.

One other major difference between the two is that xbmc4xbox is unable to add items from Hulu to the favorites list. Or rather, it adds them but they don't work.

Here's a log of what happens when I try to go to favorites:

First I tried going directly to a video, then I tried just going to the top-level of a show

*edit* I'll try updating xbmc4xbox later and see if it helps anything

Sorry that slipped my mind. I am changing the way of listing for non-plus users. I just didn't finish that last night.

cptmarginal: I tested on linux, windows, and ios. they all seemed to work more quickly. It wouldn't be hard to offer a meta-data free option if that would make it quicker on the xbox.

Thanks for the reply

That would be a great option to have! (if it does indeed make the lists load faster, as I don't really know why they're slower on the new version)

I just updated to the latest xbmc4xbox and tried 2.7.6; the videos are starting in about 10 seconds now, as opposed to 2 minutes before Big Grin

So for the Xbox users out there reading this, I'd recommend you update to the latest nightly build.

@bluecop

can I ask that question again? Any chance to expect fancast and/or HGTV in the near future?

markimark: don't expect anything. what does fancast offer that isn't provided by hulu? I am sure there is plenty but I am just not aware of the content benefits of a fancast plugin. What does the HGTV offer in addition to what is in /TV/Networks/HGTV/ in hulu?

I know I want to do something for History channel and Discovery because they offer some more stuff on their site.

I also committed another hulu update that should fix the hulu plus enable/disable. It should also be quicker for non-plus users then before because it doesn't grab that extra data.

Edit: I also wanted to note that Viacom made a deal with Hulu. so comedy central, spiketv, tv land, mtv, and vh1 shows are coming to hulu. some of the stuff is already there.

A Discovery Channel plugin would be great. Sadly though their site only has clips. For some reason I can't find any full episodes from Discover Channel. I'm guessing they must have issues with putting their content online. I'll have to settle for getting their content in other more seedy methods.
