aleatory crash with XBMC and ubuntu64 10.04
#1
Hello,

First sorry for my English. I write for help, I'm suffering crashes
random while watching any video. The operating system is ubuntu 10.04 64bit.
If I do not use the xbmc the PC is stable for days, but seeing any video
always hangs and the only thing to do is a hard reset of the PC. I leave the log of the last hang up if someone could help me.

You may have already done this but there are 2 things that will make your video wonky
1) make sure to disable compiz desktop effects (it doesn't like to play well with XBMC)
Right click on your desktop
choose "Change Desktop Background"
Choose "Visual Effects"
Make sure "None" is selected

2) Make sure you have the latest video driver installed.
As you probably know the default video driver provided by the Ubuntu install is intended only to get you to your desktop where you can install the proper driver. Without it you have NO video acceleration and anything with the least bit of intensive graphics will cause it to crash.

System/Administration/Hardware drivers ... should be able to install a decent video driver. For Nvidia, I've found downloading the latest driver from their Driver Portal Page will give you much better performance.

Follow the install instructions on this page carefully as this isn't for the faint of heart.
