i noticed this shenanigan just today, and version = float(version.split()[0]) in CommonFunctions.py fixed my eden's video addons - youtube, vimeo, reddit video etc.
my less_used frodo is still broken though, it can wait.
that aside,
I wonder (i) what caused this, and (ii) why was this left unfixed as is on Eden days after this was reported? or just that this is too high of an expectation?

Ok, so now I can login and watch videos with teh version = float(version.split()[0]) fix, but I was wondering if any one has ever been able to watch rented or purchased movies from google play.
Google owns Youtube and I can locate my movies by loging into my youtube account and putting my purchased movies as favorites, but when I try to watch them I get the error
"Playback failed couldn't locate video url"
Any help is appreciated.

I created a separate thread for unofficial fixes. As this is completely unsupported I do not feel comfortable posting it here as it takes focus from the official release that I guess the developers want to discuss here.

hello, I'm new to XBMC and trying to get the YouTube add-on to work in Mac OS 10.8, XBMC v11.0
I'm getting the "Error Script failed: plugin.video.youtube
I've seen a few things posted but can't find a solution that works, I've uninstalled the add-on and removed the relevant files in Application Support but no dice. Any ideas?
full log is here - thanks in advance

UPDATE - found this thread and works fine. wondering why the release doesn't have this fix built in but anyway, sorted. now, on to my login problems.
