Weird Dharmas Ish with SD mpeg2's
#1
Hi,

Loving XBMC for over 1 yr, looking forward to Dharma mainly for the GPU accel support without the faffing (Revo 3610 Owner on Win7).

But

Having tried vareious Dharma nightlys and seeing HD playing nice (except for a first few seconds of corruption) am have an issue which i cant find anyone else having for all my existing full quality SD Films.

Basically it appears that over 40% of them are seen by xbmc dharma as CD's, with media flags such as "mp3" or "mp1" (in camalot are fine). when i try and play them i get milkdrop visuals kicking in and no video or sound!

Its bizarre and no one else seems to have the issue that I can find.

All my DVD's were ripped using magic DVD ripper on "original mpeg" setting so no quality loss, most are DD 5.1 or/and DTS.

Any ideas?

Thanks for help in advance!

you need to enable debug in settings. otherwise it's no debug log.

ok heres the debug log, this is from my laptop test of dharma with exactly same problem, the film 300 and american tale both do it, i can tell any film that will fail by the media flags all the problem mpgs have mp3 or mp2 etc only as a media flag.

On camalot all plays fine and no issues in mpc-hc etc

Many thanks in advance for advice.

This is not a debug log, please turn on the setting and restart xbmc before you try capturing the problem.

I'm having the exact same issue, and also ripped my movies with Magic DVD Ripper in original mpeg2 mode. I'll try to post a debug log when I get home

Checked more films, Alien, Aliens, Casino Royal, Back to the future, Finding Neverland, Ghostbusters all ripped from my dvd collection using 'Magic DVD ripper' on original mpeg setting.

Maybe there is some common thing with these films that dharma doesnt like and reports as MP1 or MP3 and thus tries to play as music. My last log above should be a debug log,

Anyone have any idea at all, XBMC Dharma is the only software that has the issue, its driving me nuts.

I am having the same problem as well. Some of my mpeg rips from magic dvd ripper are doing the same thing as you described.

From what i can tell, it miss-detects the .mpg file as a mp3 file. We'd need some sample to track this down.

Sad
All my rips are 5GB approx in size, and I dont want to blatently flaunt copyright laws by publishing a film online, is there anything else i can provide which would help, some kind of software that will show exactly nthe make up of the file or something?

Appreciate all help on this, been waiting for Dharma GPU accel for ages and this just stops me in my tracks with using my BluRays if a 3rd of all my DVDs wont play anymore. Sad

They are mpeg's, so you should be able to just cut of a chunk of the beginning of the file.
