I'm looking at replacing my wife's Mac running FrontRow with something newer & better like XBMC. My biggest hurdle is the Spouse-Acceptance-Factor. It's got the be 10-foot interface, and very few menu options.
The biggest things we do are play downloaded AVI's, and play DVD's. I'd like to have the option for NetFlix built in, but that's just a bonus.
"Confluence" is close to what I want. At the moment, playing a DVD involves selecting the DVD, wading down to the TS Video, and selecting that. That just doesn't make sense, when on FrontRow you select the DVD and get "Play, Resume, Eject".
I'd also LOVE to turn off that left side menu. I only see that causing panic calls in the middle of the day from my wife.
Any suggestions? I can't be the only one looking for a super-simple interface...
