Media Flagging isses with AppleTV setup and MediaStream Redux Mod
#1
Hi everyone,

I have been living with a patched AppleTV and XBMC for about 2 weeks now. I am really liking this little thing! I have basically now setup my system to do what I wanted it to do. Nod

However, I am still having a little trouble with the issue of MEDIA FLAGGING.

Just to clarify, I am using:
-APPLE TV with USB mod paired with an external 2TB HDD.
-IMDB for movie info scraping.
-MediaStream Redux MOD skin. (Think its probably one of the VERY BEST 10ft. media center interfaces I have ever seen/used!!)

I have been slowly getting up to speed, and I guess that Media Flags are sometimes dependant on the actual SKIN you choose to use?? I tried many of the other skins at first and then settled on the MediaStream Redux MOD.

I found that the media flags initially showing up were just the basic ones only. ie.. Video codec type was not showing up, along with Studio info, Year, Parental ratings, DTS. ((Went from Confluence, to Wizard, to MediaStream to MediaStream Redux))

When I changed to the Redux MOD skin I see that I now have more flags showing up. However, my issue is still with flags for the non-standard type content... DTS, TrueHD, DTSMA, VC1, MPEG4 etc.

I am currently NOT actually archiving my 450+ HD DVD and Bluray Titles. I have only stored my 275 odd SD DVD titles for instant playback. The HD titles are only in the GUI for the purpose of being able to browse my entire movie collection, and well as search by genre, actor, director, etc. When I want to see an HD title, I will actually MANUALLY put the disc in the approrpriate player. I am fine with this arrangement.

I got to this point by simply "tricking" XBMC into scraping the info for my HD DVD and Bluray titles by simply creating folders with the movies names along with small "dummy video" files so that IMDB would actually detect "new" content and scrape the info. Along with this, I have simple .nfo's to get the HD movies info by directing it to the exact IMDB link in question. However, that would not associate any Media Flags with these entries, so my .nfo's also included code to try to show the missing media flags.

With this arrangement I can get flags to show up for...

1080
Aspect Ratio
Audio Codec
(Dolby Digital ONLY !??)
No. of Audio Channels

Also, things like the MPAA rating or YEAR were not showing up.

I can now also get the YEAR to show by adding that function into my .nfo's. ((I thought that these 2 basic things were items that simple scraping would produce no matter what??))

However, no amount of entering variables or modifying the .nfo's seems to produce any media flags for...

MPAA rating
TrueHD
DTS
DTSMA
AVC, VC1, Mpeg4, etc.

The actual logos for HD DVD and Bluray are also missing. It would be nice to see those if possible, but I have included actual jpeg cover images for these type of titles, so that along with the 1080 media flag sort of takes care of that issue in a way.

So, after all of that long winded story Blush, my question is what do I have to do when manually modifying .nfo files to make the above noted missing Media Flags appear??

Or, is it simply that MediaStream Redux on a patched AppleTV setup will NOT show these media flags when using IMDB??

Thanks,

((PS: Please dont suggest Ember or other like tools. I have confirmed that it s NOT the answer to the way I am doing things.))

For HD-DVD and Bluray you'll need to add them to the file name (ie Batman.Returns.bluray.iso) and the rest need to be stored in the correct formats (ie DTS is dca).

Check the Video and Audio codecs here -

Here's an example NFO -

Fantastic!!

Thanks for the response.

Your simple answer and excellent .nfo sample are what I needed. Big Grin

Me again....... I am having partial success.

For some reason, I am having a problem getting IMDB to scrape when I attempt to use dummy iso's. I am not sure what I am doing wrong there, but I had a similar issue when I first started out 2 weeks ago so I reverted to using dummy VOB type folders with VIDEO_TS files just like my standard dvd's are archived.

Anyway, when I use that method, I can now also get DTS, AVC, VC1, & MPEG2 to show up for HD listings when I enter the correct variables into my .nfo files.

I also now have the MPAA ratings. Could that one be something as stupid as it having to be in lower case in the .nfo file, because that is all I changed for that?? (I had MPAA in caps...Is that why??) LOL

I still cant get anyting to show up for TrueHD or DTSMA.

What is the actual code required for the above 2?? I seem to have tried everything just to make sure, but I got nothing??
