Yeah there seems to be a problem with avahi announcement ... though i didn't have time to investigate further ... maybe we aren't handling some update messages or something like that ...

For the other problem - yeah i saw your screenshots ... but the problem is - if you remove the mac before the @ in the airtunes announcement - airtunes doesn't work anymore ... at least that was something i remember in the dark (so stupid apple might use that part before the @)

You don't remove the MAC, you just make it not match the MAC in the AirPlay announcement.

Hi!

I got some problems with airplay, i run ubuntu and xbmc.
When i tries to start airplay this is what ubuntu says.

root@pirre-desktop:/home/pirre# python airplayer.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "airplayer.py", line 19, in <module>
from protocol_handler import AirplayProtocolHandler
File "/home/pirre/protocol_handler.py", line 4, in <module>
import lib.biplist
ImportError: No module named lib.biplist

Doesn't find the solution anywhere, anyone got a hint?
All the installations went well, without any errors.

Thanks!

Have you tried what I did? There was no program that just needed to be started, and then AirPlay worked in XBMC Pre Edet at least.

I got AirPlay working.

Working:

-picture mirroring from my iPhone
-recorded videos with sound from my iPhone
-youtube videos

Not Working:

-play my music from iTunes (I can see my XBMC machine, but it is not selectable)

This is a known issue?

I am about to by a new audio receiver and torn whether I should get one that supports airplay natively or whether I can rely on HTPC to do so.

A few questions:

1) Is current implementation a "hack" or a solution that is officially supported by apple? In other words, is there a risk that it will break at the next IOS update or will it work stable?

2) Are there any features that the XBMC implementation does not support what a native implementation would support?

3) Can I play in-sync via airplay to 3 HTPCs running XBMC in parallel?

4) Can I play a music-playlist via airplay and then in parallel also show a photo album (yet again in parallel via air-play)?

Thanks in advance!!!

Server: Asus Sabertooth Z77 | Intel Core i5 3.4 GHz | 12 GB DDR3 | 256 GB SSD, 40 TB (1 x 4 TB, 6 x 3TB, 9 x 2 TB)
HTPC 1: Apple Mac Mini (mid-2011) | Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz | 4GB DDR3 | 500 GB
HTPC 2: Apple Mac Mini (mid-2007) | Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz | 4 GB DDR2 | 16 GB SSD

I currently have airplay working with XBMC on Linux - all except for music. Logs show that XBMC isn't able match the incoming audio stream to a player and thus it fails. Pictures and video work well, the video looks awesome! the failure to match would seem to be a simple bug, is no one else seeing it?

Lastly, iTunes on my Win7 desktop doesn't see either of my XBMC installs as speaker targets but my iPhone does, ideas?

1) yes a hack - might break but apple would need to break native support for old ios versions as well then - very unlikely

2) no drm video, no slideshow effects on pictures and no mirroring

3) not possible atm - depends on 3rd party shairport dev to support this

4) don't think so... but not sure
