PVR back end preference ?

Hi all.

I have an Avermedia DVB-T USB tuner which I'm currently testing with XBMC Dharma B1 installed from LiveCD onto an Acer Revo 3600.

I've tried the HTS-TVHeadend package and it generally works OK, but the big problem is that it prevents S3 Sleep/Hibernation because it doesn't handle USB unplug events gracefully and causes a kernel lock-up, freezing the machine.

Would VDR be any better in this regard, or is this a general problem with Linux and USB TV tuners ?
