If I code it (frame based EDL), will you guys include it?

I'm gonna take a little side step to implement DVD cataloging next (since I already got the creative juices flowing on that idea), but once that's done, I'll come back and check out number 5. Looks like number 6 is pretty much done.

Thanks,

I've added information about the new file format to the Wiki since the patch is now part of the SVN. Info can be found here under the MPlayer EDL section: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=EDL...Player_EDL

Harry, have you worked out anything for variable framerate mpeg files? I found that xbmc is not handling comskip v1 well for tv shows which have been recorded from a direct source which plays 29fps video and 24fps commercials. This is a big problem as the commercial skips end up 5fps earlier for every second of 24fps video.

See this thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=6...post648955

And this somewhat related mythtv trac ticket: http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/9109

If this is resolved I am switching to xdl.
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.

Interesting combination of frame rates. Unfortunately I don't think XBMC is setup in anyway to handle such a situation, then again, maybe ... it all depends on how the dts/pts info is stored in the file I would assume ... since that's what's used to figure out skip points. I might be able to look into this, however, I've got a bunch of stuff happening at the moment unrelated to XBMC that will keep me tied up for a good few weeks. Once I'm back though I'll see if there's an easy math fix for this.

Thanks,
Harry

@Harry
Your work is so a good job for me! I'm looking forward to trying Eden.
Thank you so much.
But visibility feature is important as well, I think.

re "better visibility of edl existence (perhaps on the progress bar)". Yes, this would be awesome. Apparently this is non-trivial though. I bought this up with the dev team a while ago. Requires some Skinning/UI Rendering Engine support I believe. Perhaps raise a separate Trac ticket for this enhancement.

@dteirney
Has the Trac ticket already raised? I couldn't find it...
