[LINUX] Apple TV CF card problems (UDMA)
#1
Hi all,

I know this is more linux problem than ATV, but maybe someone has some experience with this.

Decided to install fast (40mb/s) CF card instead of HDD in my atv, I had pata SSD but it failed.
I used Crystalbuntu image on my stick and dd'd it to the card. atv is booting fine, no probs there.

But it is very slow, dmesg is showing that even the card is capable of UDMA5 (udma/100) the card is limited to udma/33.

I did some research and it is known problem, I tried to pass the commands to the kernel by adding them to com.apple.Boot.plist but dmesg is showing that the command is uknown:
"Unknown boot option `libata.force=80c': ignoring"

I also tried to add above command along with "options ide_core ignore_cable=0" in /etc/modprobe.d/options without luck.

Anyone has any suggestions? Update the kernel? Any help will be apreciated.

Thanks

Obviously I have three ways to fix the issue:
1. update libata module.
2. update kernel
3. install karmic from scratch.

I would prefer the first option, but all my attempts failed. I did install karmic on spare drive, but I might upgrade my AV receiver so prefer not to (neither the kernel update). But if I will have to I will

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers
