MythTV PVR client Addon Developers Wanted - Developers Only!
outleradam Wrote:I did a git, I dropped the entire cmyth library into the xbmc/lib/cmyth folder, then I ./configure'd and make -j5 on my desktop, then I tested. It worked.

Anyways...

I'm trying to get the guide working. I can't schedule shows and it says "failed to playback" when I select something on the XBMC version, in the terminal it just says "Success". When running the git version, it does not say anything in XBMC. It just generated some backend messages which I had never seen before.

Are we maintaining Lib-cMyth? Is there anything I can do? Can I add some documentation patches? Should we port the changes to Lib-cMyth back upstream?

My wife has some interest in this project, so I'd really like to help and get her program guide working.

Please be more specific. I'm confused about what you have in your system and whether you are talking about the Guide using myth:// or the Guide through the pvrtesting2 branch. Given you are talking about scheduling I assume you are talking about the pvrtesting2 branch. Playback through the pvrtesting2 branch is not being done through libcmyth at all, it is being done through mythxml.

There are known differences between libcmyth in XBMC and the git version that was spawned from MVPMC. Please stick with the XBMC version so we know what you are using. The MVPMC git version doesn't even have a make file so I have no idea how it's even remotely working in XBMC.

As per usual, please supply a full debug log that shows any errors you are having.

When I say I dragged the git I mean that I went to mvpmc and got the git and then dropped it onto the xbmc folder. It compiled and I ran it. The only difference I saw was that the airdates were from year 8000 something. I just posted a log in my last post.

You posted a truncated log file. Please post a full debug log file. The bit you chopped out and posted doesn't appear to mention Myth or Guide anywhere in it. It seems to be part of the log where thumbnailing of files is going on. Always post a FULL debug log file.

Based on what you did you are probably running with partial XBMC and partial Git. The XBMC version has more files than Git, e.g. the Makefile.

Testing with the Git libcmyth version will not help get any problems fixed at this stage. The MVPMC version of libcmyth hasn't been updated for ages and still doesn't have all the patches needed to work against 0.24.

^^K. I just figured I'd play around with stuff to see if I could get anything working. Sorry about the log. I was working remotely from my desktop and that was the most I could cat in my terminal window. I just established new shortcut icons to link to my netbook for the future.

Established favorites in XBMC for guide, exited, Clicked favorite, clicked syfy, clicked the first show I found a few times, then exited.

I'm confused about what you are hoping would happen. The Guide folder through myth:// in trunk only shows the channels, and then the upcoming shows on that channel. The shows for a channel cannot be interacted with at all. E.g. clicking on a future show doesn't do anything. It's a very rudimentary way to show the EPG.

The work that tafypz has been doing in the pvrtesting2 branch allows the EPG to be shown. He is still working on how to allow shows to be scheduled for recording.

Well, I thought it would set up a recording. A pvr does 3 things, watch live, watch recorded and record. Right now it's trying to play the stream and it is failing with a message on screen.

The entire content of this thread is nothing to do with trunk. It's about building out the PVR Addon within the pvrtesting2 branch.

What? Seriously? Every time I have tried to svn co to pvr2, it says it has moved.

I verified my selected repo earlier and noone corrected me.

What is the proper repo?

I made a few videos a while back when testing vdr and pvrtesting2.

They give a good taste of what we are aiming for with the mythtv addon.

Ive also made a quick how to for the pvrtesting2 branch and mythtv patches:

I hope these help.

I thought that some of what is needed with to get the MythTV PVR Addon working is only in trunk though (i.e. the libcmyth stuff)? If so, why not just merge trunk into pvr_testing2 branch, as was done a few months back? They'll eventually need to be merged anyway.

Ok. I svn co'd the pvr-frontend branch. How can I test out any of the features? How do I get the pvr addon for mythtv?

I added all 3 patches from the ticket above and I added the two patches in this thread from earlier. I have the myth:// source, and it's running like crap and I don't know how to use the addon.

In this branch, the myth:// source is not capable of entering the video folders. It gave me a segmentation fault while browsing the guide data and crashed out of XBMC. This is my first time seeing this... I'm not sure if this is valuable since it is supposed to be used with the addon.

The libcmyth stuff will be getting copied into the pvrtesting2 branch underneath the MythTV Addon. That will be done once support for Myth 0.24 is stable in trunk (and it's pretty close).

I've added more details to the wiki page re the PVR addon about the longer term plans for getting it into trunk. I don't have time to merge across months of changes from trunk. The pvrtesting2 changes will get moved into trunk after the Dharma release with help from other XBMC Team members.

Can we now get this thread back on topic. This thread is for willing developers to collaborate to build out the remaining parts of the MythTV PVR Addon.

The wiki page has a few more details about what is being done. http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=MythTV_PVR_Addon
