Thanks, but this is far from "user frendly"
I will wait for the GUI option.

You're kidding right? Far from user friendly? WOW!!!Shocked

It's copy paste enter. You dont even have to turn on a brain cell. Well..... maybe one.

Not knocking you..... but thats as user friendly as it gets in linux when someone hands you a 5 min solution on a golden platter to a perceived problem.

No biggie. To each his own.

I mean: It's not user friendly if you first have to read the XBMC forum to see how it is done.

I tried to do something like that as an add-on only I am using the wicd deamon. Working pretty good.

Problem is that I dont think I can get dbus support in xbmc-python. I didnt realize this when I started so I a bit put off now.

Quote:I'd recommend not spending to much time on the GUI in the script as we will add network management support to xbmc eden.
Thats sounds good. Maybe I should scrap my project then. A pity I, was minutes away from hooking up my prototype wrapper to a test GUI when I discovered my small problem.

Nah don't scrap it, all code you have which interacts with the backend could still be reused for sure.

topfs2,

have you pushed your code for the NetworkManager to a repo yet? I'm working on a project that uses info about nearby wifi networks, and I was hoping to build it on top of the upcoming NetworkManager features.

Thanks!

I have made some progress with the add-on. dbus is a no-go so far, but I pushed ahead with a workaround.

Looking good! it will help a lot the new user who doesn't know to use google Wink

WiFi setup is easy with a nice tutorial, since it's a "one time setup and forget", but with this addon XBMC will feel more complete.

XBMC is not an OS in some sort, but on my side, I only have XBMC in Live install and I don't use it for nothing else. So my point is if we can have a WiFi GUI I think it will feel more complete. Nod

But I understand it's useless for a windows install.

Anyway, keep up the good work! I think I have more fun installing/updating XBMC than playing movies on it Laugh
