Hi all,

I just installed xbmc for linux. I am new to linux but not new to xbmc, have it on my xbox1.

I just recently built a HTPC, using ubuntu server 10.04. It has an H57 mobo with i3 cpu. I have an mkv file that i wanted to play but unfortunately the video doesn't start. I get a message saying, "Playback Failed".
I looked at the logs and this is what i found:

I looked around but i couldn't get far. Some people said it worked for them, other said it didn't.

I am hoping i can find some answers if i post this issue here.

Can't say i can offer much help as all my .mkv files (my entire collection) play fine. You may want to check permissions on the folders those videos are in and make sure the user XBMC is running under can access those files.

Another thing to consider is file movement. If you have rearranged files lately, you may want to run the library cleanup. I had some files listed in library mode that moved or no longer existed but still showed up in the listings.
