[LINUX] iTunes python plugin in XBMC for Linux?
#1
I am considering moving from my Mac based xbmc to linux to improve the video quality. It currently works OK but I often notice slight flicker or redraw issues. My goal is a media center that plays video, music from my iTunes library and photos from my iPhoto library.

Has anyone tried the itunes python script in linux? I see that others have had mixed success in osx and windows.

I know that I could simply access the music files. It is the playlists and smart playlists that I really want.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

My understanding is that the format which is used for the itunes script was no longer supported after iTunes7. I was not able to get it working and I did some research to find that. Then I updated the wiki about iTunes support.
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.

I don't mean DAAP as that stopped working a while ago. There are plugins that are used in OSX and windows here:

and some discussion here:

I wanted to know if anyone has tried them in linux.

Looks like I may be the first...

Before I try it does anyone know what to put in the "platform =" portion of the code? On mac it is "OS X", Windows is "win32" on linux I would assume that it would be "linux" or something similar.

Hi Greg, did you have any luck with that?

I want to try the same thing on my Ubuntu box using iTunes running in a XP VM. I installed the OS X iTunes plugin for XBMC on Ubuntu but I'm currently still setting up my XP VM so I haven't tried to get it working yet. Is it possible?
