[LIVE] Dharma 2 - SMB Username and Password Problem @Vista
#1
Hi there,

I have recently set-up my Revo R3610 with Dharma beta 2.

When i do the following it asks for a password, however there is no password on any of my machines?:

Videos -> Add Source

Browse -> Windows Network(SMB)

Browse (at this stage it finds my WORKGROUP)

I locate "VISTA-PC" which has my files stored.

I locate "E" which is my drive which i have set up to share.

Upon locating "E" it asks for username and password.

There is no username and password on my machine.

Any help on how to fix this? I am completely baffled.

What is even more strange is, under "VISTA-PC", there is "Shared" aswell as "E"..

It lets me into "Shared" without a password but not into "E"

BTW:
Complete fresh install, no options have been tampered with!

CURED!

On the machine i am storing the files, i created a username and password of the following:

Username: xbmcu
Password: xbmcp

I then ignored that account and continued on the administrator account i was currently logged into.

I located the folder i wished to share, in this case it was E:\

I right click E:\, then click Share..

The sharing dialog comes up, in which i ticked the top box, and named the drive as E (this is what it will come up as on the xbmc)

I then clicked Permissions.

Which then took me to a new dialog, i clicked advanced, and on the right hand side clicked "look up", it found a number of users available on the computer, i scrolled down to the bottom to find the account i created earlier - xbmcu

i highlighted that and pressed ok

then ok/apply on all the other dialogs untill you get out of everything.

go back to the xbmc machine and set up SMB files and login with the username which you just created, in this case:

Username: xbmcu
Password: xbmcp

Mine connected up straight away without any problems!
Good luck! (1.10am - bed time for me!)
