Lucid 64bit and Alsa - only shows spdif on ionitx?
#1
after having lucid 32bit running for a few weeks i decided to give my zotac ionitx-E (same as -A only "E"uropean version) an 4GB upgrade and installed lucid 64bit.

as always i used the XBMCbuntu guide
http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=XBMCbuntu

last time everything worked perfectly fine, i had sound in the xbmc-menu and had more channels i could setup in "alsamixer". like in this picture:

my problem atm is that when i run alsamixer i only have "spdif" (hdmi):
Image
no sound in the xbmc-menu at all and audio only when watching stuff when i setup output to hdmi.

During setup i used x-updates for the latest nvidia drivers and ubuntu-audio-dev for latest stable alsa audio, which i did also during the 32bit installation that worked out fine. Huh
Code:
add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa

to fix the problem i also tried updating alsa to v1.0.23 with the unstable ppa (as seen in the picture) from
https://launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/u...lter=lucid

i had the same issue with both ppa's so im kinda stuck, i double checked everything from the guide and traced back my steps i don't see where i could have done something wrong :confused2:

output of aplay -l shows:
Code:
xbmc@xbmc:~$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

xbmc@xbmc:~$ uname -r
2.6.32-25-generic

any ideas? Sad

omg!! i found the problem! in bios the azalia codec was set to "internal codec" only which is only for hdmi setting it to "internal codec + external codec" enables the other outputs! Big Grin

everything is perfectly working again! Smile
