Add-Ons Does Not Appear
#1
Let me start off by saying hello and introducing my self. My name is Jesse, I come from the Midwest and over the past few months I have been building a media center. I am skilled in Linux, decent with Python and C# / C+. Although I am mainly into to networking and virtual infrastructures.

I have been using xbmc for awhile now and I am very impressed with the software! Everyone who worked on this did an excellent job. I appreciate everyones hard work. Excuse me for not introducing myself earlier, life gets hectic. More over the wiki and forums seem to have all the knowledge anyone could ever need! I did run into a snag, here is my build up so far:

Custom Mini ITX rig with built in PSU and HDMI
Bluray slot load (temporary, borrowing from work Tongue )
Wireless N
SSD + NAS for media storage
ATI HD 5400 Series 3.2.9756
Ubuntu Lucid 10.04
32 bit Intel w/ 2gb RAM
Built in adapter for Xbox360 Wireless Controller
Android App (amazing)
XBMC 9.11 (from the repo) with PM3.HD (love it)
Boots into XBMC in about 5 seconds : )

The one problem I am having is that for the life of me, I cannot get the Add-Ons section to appear in system settings. More specifically this "install from zip" option I am hearing about. I understand that I may not be able to see it under PM3.HD so I have been using confluence while trying to get it to appear. This is w/o advanced settings. I have tried deleting ~./xbmc/userdata/Database

I can see System | Skin | Addon Scripts, but there is nothing about install from zip in there. I do not see an Addon section anywhere else.

Take your time, your help is much appreciated, I look forward to becoming a member of this community.

You're using an old build of XBMC. Try the Dharma beta 2.

Thanks for the fast reply! People refer to their release on the forums a 'latest' so it is hard to track down which build they speak of. I assumed that the 'latest' was Dharma. From what I understand now, is that I have 9.11 and Dharma is 10.x?

Much appreciated! I have been looking for an official mirror list. I do not see a Linux build, I will try mounting the SVN PPA and get back to you.

Success! I see add-ons! That was really fast and easy. I am glad this software works so well. Looks like I was correct about the version number too.

I doesn't look like PM3.HD has native support for Dharma. But hey, nothing is impossible with Linux. Ill give it a try.

pm3.hd is available in the addons repo. We just don't bundle it anymore.
