Got my foxconn nt 330i, now what?
Hannes The Hun Wrote:I have no idea what's wrong with your configs, all my 1080p mkv content played smooth either with win7 or XBMCbuntu right from the start.

Thanks for your reply. The files even play on my CrystalHD enabled ATV1, so this shouldn't be the issue. Also, I even upgraded to 4GB, which didn't help either.

I must have somehow screwed up the driver or the XBMC settings. Can you please share with me what nvidia drivers show up under Win7 in the install/uninstall setting and also in your device manager. Plus, your settings in XBMC.

FYI, video goes directly over HDMI to my TV. Audio goes through the earphone jack to an amplifier.

Thanks a ton in advance!

I've tried a few versions of official xbmc releases and xbmcfreak ones and for the life of me I cannot get the wifi to connect!

I'm using a WPA2-Personal network...and my box has the Atheros AR9285 rev01 chip like most of you probably have.

My current install is the xbmcfreak 10.00 maverick v2 - any help would be appreciated!

Totally oout of the box thinking here, but I've gotten bit by this before.

Did you enable mac address filtering for your wifi network and forget to add your new box?

Though I'd throw that out there, never know

Almost had a *facepalm* moment there, checked but no =/

Triple checked the hex passphrase so it's not that.

Ok, was thinking about making a "clean" attempt. Formatting the harddisk and trying it all over to finally get the Foxconn HTPC working. 2 questions before I do that:

1) Is there any "live" version you have tested and which has worked out of the box? Any image somehwhere for download?

2) Do I need to dig my way though http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/xci/vi...p?f=11&t=2 and http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=69753 or is there an easier way?

That's the million dollar question - which version to use!
I'm testing xbmcfreak maverick v2 and v3 right now, I'll post back my results...

Just for kicks I'm attempting to install your links, they don't seem to include Atheros ethernet drivers unless I missed it in the list (didn't auto-detect) - were you able to get past that step?

Actually, I only copied the links from Hannes' signature and haven't tried myself. I still hope that there is an easier way out there. Either with Win7 (preferred) or with an Ubuntu live image.

Well I have the Rosewill mce remote, so I tried the xbmcfreak-1000-maverick-v2.iso, made a USB boot, installed on the 330i. Network, the remote, sound, my dinovo edge all work out of the box - quite impressed.

Wireless I'm still at a loss but for now this will do.

I'm just learning linux to be honest, I only know what google's provided me! That's all greek to me sorry!

Got wireless working!!
I did
sudo apt-get update
then I followed http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/en/wifi-onder-li...figureren/
but changed:
wpa-proto RSN
wpa-pairwise TKIP
wpa-group TKIP
and it worked for WPA2-Personal!

Just need to test the Standby feature after my TV shows finish adding and I should be in business!

Ok, will give the image a "try" then. Can I run this off the USB stick or need to install to HD? What's the min and max size for the USB stick?

I could also just run it off the 8GB stick directly, isnt it? For now, would love to keep Win7 on my SSD. Maybe, there will be a solution at a later point.
