Got my foxconn nt 330i, now what?
Ah, mine's a standalone HTPC, maybe worth a dualboot with xp at a later date.

Here's the ISO and usb boot program link:

I tried, but unfortunately the movie still plays with stutters (and much more noticeably the audio is completely out of sync). I changed the "audio settings" from HDMI to "analog", but left all other options unchanged. Did you make any other changes?
Server: Asus Sabertooth Z77 | Intel Core i5 3.4 GHz | 16 GB DDR3 | 128 GB SSD, 82 TB (9 x 6 TB, 7 x 4 TB)

I unfortunately don't own an HDMI tuner, so I use the mini-optical jack for my audio, and disable HDMI-audio.

The standby doesn't appear to function just yet, more to come.

1. Install XBMC from USB onto SSD from XBMCfreak LiveCD 10.00 maverick v2 ISO
http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/en/xbmcfreak-liv...verick-v2/ <- LiveCD ISO
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ <- Unetbootin

2. Enable Wi-Fi
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=709...tcount=147

3. Make changes in SSH Config file
http://www.jonathanmoeller.com/screed/?p=2097
(changed PermitRootLogin to no, added AllowUsers line to restrict logins, may change port)

Worked out of the box, but I havent tried this on my home setup (better labs at work) Any suggestions on what I might need to add, configure to get this finalized?

I still haven't gotten USB-wake to work.

I even updated the bios to a beta drive (Quiet boot now shows the AMI logo! *gasp* and other SATA options)

Just curious what Sleep mode do you set your BIOS to? S1 / S3 / Auto?

Edit: Looking through the BIOS I've noticed that the last few versions have no options within the Wake Config...was there a USB Wake in there?
Reply
My bad, forgot to hit "Load Defaults" in BIOS after updating.

The Wake on USB/KB option is Enabled, however they still will not wake.

Standby/Wake now working with remote + dinovo edge!
Just had to add a small startup script....Writing up a step-by-step this weekend (for when I inevitably install updated versions)

I ask my question again:

I already have 2.5 HDD and 1 GB ram(from old laptop).
Will it play play smoothly 1080p content? Not recordings mythtv. etc. Just normal mkv movies 1080p at 24Hz. In windows 7 or live.

Please someone?

In [Live] I've streamed a 1080p, 12gb .mkv from my server without any issues. I have 2gb of ram (256mb vram visible in bios) and a small SSD however.

Ram is rather inexpensive, this is the exact one I purchased (and at the time it was on sale for $45!)

Might be able to get my hands on a "foxconn nt330i" with 2 gigs of ram and a 60gig OCZ Vertex SSD w/windows 7 installed for $340.

Does this sound like a deal or am I getting ripped off?

Thank you!

Breaking down the price (off the top of my head I'm on my mobile)

- Foxconn ~$170-180 (depending on sale price)
- 2 gigs ram ~$35
- windows 7 (do you get a key?) ~depends on version
- 60gb vertex ~$80?

This new or used?

Not sure if I get a key or not. I'll have to ask. It's used...

Has anyone modded the fan?

Considering it, but haven't found a definite plan quite yet.

Though of strapping on a huge video card passive heatsink, but the screw holes are offset a bit ...

@Pondering

Thanks for posting your guide! I had everything working EXCEPT for usb wake (Turns out it was the bios. I was on 943F1P06), and your guide got everything running.
