What happened to subtitles sice 9.11?
#1
Just updated my htpc and noticed the subtitle style had changed. Somehow they got this fat border which makes the characters go into each other, while the old one was thin and sharp. The font is clearly not the same either, even tho they both says arial. Here's some pics using the same settings: arial, 34pt, bold

Am i the only one who think this looks absolutely horrible?
Or is there any way i can get it back?

We had to change the method to draw the border as it was way too CPU intensive and Atoms fell over.

never had any issues with atom myself.. But is there any way you could choose drawing method, or adjust the thickness of it?

Try cranking up the size of the font. 40 should have it stuttering plenty. There is no choice of method. Thickness, maybe in Eden, if other devs agree.

The outline change is r32114. Font rendering happens in GUIFontTTF.cpp (all platforms) and GUIFontTTFDX/GL for the platform specific bits.

A real media center requires real hardware. When do we get to have a farewell atoms? Farewell Xbox is near the end of the RSS.

I agree with this.

I just updated to Dharma Beta 3 and noticed the ugly fat border, it looks so bad sometimes...

Glad I found this topic.

Let's see if I can compile Dharma with this patch.
