XBMC crashes at start
#1
Sad
Hello at first and good morningSmile
I`ve a big problem with xbmc under Win XP (all Updates installed)
First I tested it on my Home PC under WIN 7 - perfectly, this is exactly what I`ve searching for since a long time - I control it with the remote for android. Super! Much better as the iTunes with Remote I used before.
Ok so:
Next step was to install it on my HomeServer - Its a Petium M with 1,4GHz and 1GB RAM. Here runs iTunes before. Installation is ok, no errors.
But if i start it after the installation the programm crashes in the first 1-2 secondes. I´ve tested it to reboot after installation and new install also.

What could be wrong, and what can I do?Blush
hmmm

no one?
I`ve found the reason. The programm crashs only, if I start it from an remote computer. In case I made it directly on the server it works. Is this normal? I think its a bug.

A little patience, nobody here is paid to guarantee timely responses etc...

Running through remote desktop is not really supported or a priority, as none of the Windows devs do it AFAIK. It's likely a color depth issue, xbmc expects 32bits per pixel.
Always read the Kodi online-manual, the FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail Kodi Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules (wiki).
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

You might find XBMC will run in remote desktop if you use 32 bit colour and enable the setting "Use a full screen window instead of true fullscreen", however it's not guaranteed.

Thanks for replysSmile

hmmm, remote desktop runs only in 16bit on my system. I try`d a few time long - if I set it to 32bit and control the resolution it`s always 16bit (with Win7 x64 Ultimate - RemoteDesktop)

I would it only use for music - so isn`t it possible to run xbmc in a 16bit mode?

No. There are various remote control apps for XBMC, or you could use a remote controller.
