Can't Access The Web Server
#1
On my own LAN! Can't believe i do the IT at work...

From my laptop (win 7 32bit) trying to access web server on my self build pc (win 7 64bit Dharma b3)) with firefox.

I am typing in http://xbmc_192.168.1.102/ (also tried adding :80 for port at the end) but cannot get through.

I am obviously doing something basically wrong. I have remote access and http server enabled in xbmc with a username of xbmc and then a password.

Only want to see what I can do with it.

thanks

Drop the 'xbmc' part from the address. All you need is http://192.168.1.102 . If it still fails, try accessing it via localhost on the host computer.

Oh I see. I am already connected to the pc via remote desktop (sometimes vnc for reboots etc) and I can access xbmc as a program that way.

I thought that doing it this way would open a webgui interface so I could control my library etc.

Maybe I was confused as to what the webserver does/provides.

It does open a web GUI - put the address above into your browser's address bar, and it should load up. If it doesn't, put 'localhost' into the host's browser, as a means to determine whether it's the app or the connection between the systems that's at fault.

one odd thing i DID notice is (using darma b3), i can access the web gui, but when switching to another web GUI plugin, i get a 'can't access error' until i change the web gui plugin back to the one i was using. I cleared the cache, so that's not it. But otherwise, it IS working at least. I can't remember the name of the one i used, but it's the one which is set up more like a library site, showing the library title's, and extra info on the right side, and the box cover more towards the right side (This description probably doesn't help at all. LOL)

***UPDATE*** Resolved my issue.......tried using Port 8888 and works like a charm!!
=======================================================================================
Not to "highjack" the thread or anything, but I am having a similar problem.

Windows 7 machine
Unable to access xbmc via remote pc or Ipod (works when connecting to a Vista machine though)

Unable to access web interface through http://localhost or http://localhost:8080 (this one gives me Access Violation in the browser window).

Anythoughts?
