Hi guys,

As you can see im a complete newbie and so was after a sort of "idiots guide" on how to get a decent install and how to maximize what I've got so far.

Here's my setup so far:

2010 mac mini (hdmi base model 2gb RAM)
Sony HD tv - connected via hdmi at 1080p
Latest stable release of xbmc

I've started to rip my dvd collection to .mkv via Makemkv (these are mpeg2 by default)

All files are in individual folders with all artwork stored locally (as per forum advice)

I've added a few skins to the install (but cant get the Aeon version in the SVN installer to display right?)

Am I missing anything? Are .mkv files the best no compressed file?

Should i be upscaling?

Are there any skins i should use?

Any thing else that's considered best practice?
