Ubuntu 10.10 minimal and dharma beta 4 very slow on user mode
#1
Hi,

I start installing my media center with new ubuntu 10.10 and dharma beta 4. After installing xbmc-live by team-xbmc-svn ppa repository and alsa tools,

I try to start xbmc under my main account and it was very slow but when I start xbmc as root it work perfectly.

The command I use is : xinit xbmc-standalone

I need your help because I don't understand why xbmc doesn't work with user account.

Xbmc need user named xbmc to run correctly

Thanks !

Hi

Had the same problem. My main account worked fine but the account for my kid was unusable. After some searching I found this.

Compiz is not compatible with XBMC
Make sure Compiz visual effects is disabled. You can do this by going to System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects. Make sure "None" is selected. Alternatively, you can tell Compiz not to interfere with XBMC. Install and run CompizConfig, and under General Options tick Unredirect Fullscreen Windows.

Changed the visual effects to "none" and it was fixed.
Hopefully this works for someone else to.
