First, I apologize if this is covered elsewhere--I've spent at least 2 hours searching the forums and could not find a similar post.

I just built an HTPC which features an ATI Radeon HD 4200 card and runs Windows 7 Ultimate (clean install). When I try to play a video, I get sound and see all of the XBMC menu stuff (rewind, play, pause, ffwd buttons, etc) but no video playback. I've used XMBC on two other computers and have not experienced this and am totally at a loss as to what the problem could be. These videos play fine with WMC and with stand alone players. I appreciate any help out there. Thanks.

Try downloading and running the DirectX installer from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/de...ceb6d8fa8d

There are several other users (including myself) who have this issue.

A couple of things you can try:

1) enable VSync "always" in the settings menu
2) try all the different options in the Render Method settings
3) update your DirectX
4) ensure you have the latest ATI drivers and Catalyst Control Center

I've tried all these and it didn't help me out - I'm still stuck, but others have had luck, so try it out!
