MSI Wind Netbook U230-086US for XBMC?
#1
Hi, I work abroad (developing countries) and travel alot so I want a XBMC that has a battery and is portable so i was thinking about the MSI Wind netbook that has the following specs:

Graphics Processor: ATI Radeon HD 3200
Video Memory: Shared system memory (doh!)
CPU Type: AMD Athlon Neo
CPU Speed: MV-40(1.60GHz)
CPU L2 Cache: 512KB
Memory: 2GB (can go up to 4)

I was thinking about running a lite Linux like LXDE SuSE and XBMC on it (heard scary things about trying to get ATI drivers to work though).

Has anyone tried XBMC on this model MSI netbook or a similar setup? Any thoughts would be appreciated esp regarding XBMC using hardware acceleration (or suggestions for other sub $500 netbook alternatives?).

Cheers,

-Gaiko

PS one reason i want to go Linux is because most 32bit linuxes support partitions over 2tb and I have a 5.4TB drobo I want to connect to it (my media junk etc)

Pickup an ION based netbook and you will make things a lot easier for yourself and it will do HD playback.

Then pick another system.

The definition of pain to me is AMD + Linux....
