ACER REVO 3700 - No Audio over HDMI

rcorkill Wrote:Well, I have sound for my movies, but no sound for the menus or online streaming videos.

I´ve got ION2 too (Zotac ZBOX HD-11) and sound works fine apart from navigation sounds and videos that have sample rate under 44100hz, I guess you have same problem? Some better quality videos in youtube work fine, but lower quality doesn´t. Haven´t found solution for this yet.

I got the other audio to work by changing the Audio Output to custom (plughw:1,7) too.

So even lower quality audio works OK?

Actually, no. I tested out some of the other plug-in apps and no sound, also no menu sounds.

OK. I guess this is a ION2 -spesific feature. Would be very nice if someone could solve this problem...

Try adding

Quote:<advancedsettings>
<audio>
<resample>48000</resample>
</audio>
</advancedsettings>

to /userdata/advancedsettings.xml

cheers

That doesn´t help. It does change sample rate to 48khz when playing music, but for example youtube -videos that have under 44100hz sample rate still don´t have sound.

Im also having difficulty getting HDMI audio on my revo 3700. By following some other threads i can get audio out on vlc but xbmc keeps telling me My Audio hardware failed to initialize. I have followed the advice here http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...controller but it just doesnt work. How can this be so difficult. HDMI has been out for years!!Sad

OK FINALLY got it working, as i said above i followed the thread about setting hdmi audio but then i followed the advice here http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM...ital_audio

also while playing a video back in xbmc i had to select the option to pass stereo through to all available speakers (its kind of hidden away there)

Its working great at the moment, does anyone know if passthough just sends the unaltered audio to my TV, is it altering it in some way. Sorry if that seems a stupid question im just no nothing about audio handling

I'm having the same problems with my 3700.

I tried http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title..._digital_audi but no dice. Just silence although it does stop XBMC complaining that it cannot setup audio output.

I have not tried http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title...rce_controller
as no HDMI device shows up when I list them. Just a plain digital and analog output.

Help!!

Although originally I said I was running the latest Dharma Beta 4 (I thought I was), but alas I was not. After Installing Dharma Beta 4, It worked perfectly out of the box. I had to add the asound.conf file and change the HDA_Intel.conf as most of the threads say, to add menu sounds.

Thanks for all the input.

I have just sorted mine, it took 2 nights of work due to me being a linux noob but now it's working like a dream with Ubuntu 10.04.

I had to install alsa 1.0.23: http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2010/0...ynx-10-04/

Then I had to unmute the channels in alsamixer, once I had done this I had to add some options to the following file:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf

then add this line

options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xffff,0xfff2

Don't forget to change your hardware to Digital HDMI out in the sound options window (found in: system>preferences>sound)

Hi guys, can anyone tell me where the Beta builds for XBMC are ? I see the mention of BETA4 above.. I am using Dharma 10.0 with an old shuttle install (XPC ST20G5) and I can't for the life of me get HDMI audio working (out of an ATI HDMI card (3450)..

If there's a beta install, I might try that, as having no luck at present.
