there is a post over at the xbox-scene forums (in the xbmc section) regarding the button codes etc. for inclusion in keymap.xml.

it works fine with the original dongle etc. etc.

fyi, i've created an device upgrade for jp1 enabled remotes that has the media extender codes. you can download it from http://www.samuraipanda.com/media_extend..._xbox.rmdu and read the file using the remotemaster (http://controlremote.sourceforge.net/ ). i don't have the media center extender for xbox, but i used the information from the link listed earlier to create the file and then used xbmc to ensure that the codes are correct.

jp1 is an interface on some one-for-all and radio shack remote controls that allows a pc to program the remote using a software package. you can find out more about jp1 programming at http://www.hifi-remote.com/jp1/help/.

benjamintm,
could you post the raw codes for us? it would be really helpful to those of us that use other remotes.

thanks in advance!
I'm not an expert but I play one at work.

what do you mean by "raw codes"? if you are looking for the obc values, you can see them at:

raw codes look simular to this...
0000 0073 0000 000c 001e 0020 001e 0020 001e 0020 003e 0020 001e 0020 001e 0020 001e 0020 001e 0020 001e 0040 001e 0020 003e 0040 001e 0ca4

basically sets of hex codes... this is the raw ir output. i'm not sure if your application can save the raw ir output but if it can this would surely help those of us that use other remotes and pc devices like pronto, red rat, uirt, etc.

thanks for the help!

ah, you have a lesser remote ;-).

i poked around and it looks like remotemaster doesn't have a raw output capability. sorry.

logitech harmony remote supports this remote

harmony is a fanatastic alll in one remote, and this means that provided your xbox has in ir receiver, poofk, your harmony can be coded to work it within seconds

is the ir receiver unit in the extender the same as the dvd playback kit??

if do i suppose it would be cheaper to buy that one

are there any other ir input devices for the xbox??

cheers

the dongle is the same. 3rd party ones might work (no guarantees).

correct me if i am wrong here...but the latest cvs (i have version 01-02-05) of xbmc supports this remote directly in the keymap.xml now, right?

so we now do have all the functionality of the added buttons?
#15
oooo, good question haynes_52...

if i already have an ir input from the xbox dvd remote...will that work fine with the extender remote?

basically i just plan on downloading all the codes if i can, as i have a urc mx-700. otherwise, i'd have to buy the remote, port it to the mx-700, then stick in the drawer with my already-no-longer-useful xbox dvd remote. Smile
