Set 23 or 24 hz refresh rate
#1
Hm, I have a strange problem. XBMC is changing the refresh rate on the type of movie, cool!
But some movies will not play smooth. I found out what it is. My TV supports 23 and 24 hz mode.
The movies which does not run smooth on 23 are running smooth on 24 but XBMC set the refresh rate to 23 automatic!

Is there a way to have XBMC go to 24 for all movies which normal would go to 23? Or even better, can it be overruled by putting something in the filename lie _24h_ or something?

I do not want my kids to change the refresh rate by themselfs Big Grin

There is a way. You can read about it here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...3Cvideo.3E under <adjustrefreshrate> .

Bear in mind two things:

1) As explained on the wiki, this setting is experimental and is not currently available on the official builds (neither latest stable nor Dharma betas).

2) What you describe is rather strange, usually the problem is the opposite. The majority of 24p content is 23.976 and it's troublesome when XBMC starts at 24 and then switches to 23.976 when the movie has already begun.

Probably somebody more knowledgeable than me will soon chime in and clarify better the second point.

You need to have a very specific build (the wiki mentions it), updated to a point which is not available for download here from this website.

There are places where you can download it, I think here for example: http://sshcs.com/xbmc/?mode=AV

As usual, keep in mind that those builds are unsupported, back up everything possible (I would suggest your entire userfolder for XBMC, hoping you know where it is located, read here in case you don't: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBM..._stored.3F).
