Beta4 - Stuttering movie
#1
Hi,

I tried to play a movie with the following specs in beta 4 and every 4-5 seconds the frames readjust themselves which makes the move stutter a lot.

Container: MKV
Resolution: 1080p
Source Media: Blu Ray
Audio Format: DTS MA
Audio Channels: 7.1
Audio Bitrate: Variable
File size: 15.2 GiB
Video bit rate: 13.4 Mbps
Resolution: 1920 x 800
Audio: English 7.1 Variable DTSMA
Subtitles: English, Spanish

Now if I play the same movie in MPC-HC it plays fine.

My config is:
Windows7, AMD Athlon II, 4Gb, Radeon HD 5670

I am logging this because I am pretty sure (90% only) that I was able to play DTSMA movies in the earlier beta. I know that it translate to DTS only but was still able to play them.

Here is the debug log http://filebin.ca/tghoce

Any direction would be great. I've tried to enable the adjust refresh rate to display and it makes it way worst...

Same here! Thought it was my network but couldn't get my finger on it.

Ya I did the same thing. Connected the NAS to a Gb switch and direct to the HTPC because I thought it was to blame. The issue persisted so I started to blame the controller on the NAS until I realize it would be better to try a different player first.

Glad I did that I would have ended up with a Drobo Smile

BTW I installed the latest ffdshow and configure the audio decoder to support DTS MA. I was able to bitstream to my reciever which is pretty cool but I'm still kind of bumped that it does not work within XBMC... Any direction on how to figure out why it does not work or is it just not supported ?

Not sure if anyone had a chance to look at the log provided but, during playback, it has a lot of:

Natively HD Audio not yet supported - an external player config, or DSPlayer will allow bitstreaming.

I too have had problems with DTS 7 channel audio and XBMC. Only 2 movies (so far!) I've found to be affected (Total Recall and Ghost in the Shell 2.0) so hopefully it will get rolled into an update sometime in the future. I've taken to just adding an AAC stream to the movie gets it to play fine until this is fixed.

edit - and its only an issue on the ION machine...on my i5 desktop, audio rolls just fine.

I understand that bitstreaming is not supported but converting the audio to DTS was at some point I believe...

Well RC1 solved the issue. The same movie is playing fine now Smile
