XBMC Crash possibly due to key mapping
#1
Hi,

My XBMC has been up and running successfully for a couple of weeks. I've also just installed a new IR mce remote, which has also been working fine.

My system is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and I am running the most current version of XBMC.

My problem is that I wanted to map a new function (fullscreen) to the Red Button on my remote. I did some research and thought I understood how to do it. There was no Lircmap.xml or remote xml in /USER/.xbmc/userdata so I copied /usr/share/xbmc/system/Lircmap.xml to /USER/.xbmc/userdata/Lircmap.xml and /usr/share/xbmc/system/keymaps/remote.xml to /USER/.xbmc/userdata/keymaps/remote.xml.

I made a minor change to /USER/.xbmc/userdata/keymaps/remote.xml, saved it and restarted XBMC.

XBMC now crashes about 3 seconds into booting up.

I have tried deleting both the files I moved to /USER/.xbmc/userdata, and also replacing them both with copies of the originals from /usr/share/xbmc/system.

Obviously this hasn't helped. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as I am completely stuck and would really rather not have to reinstall XBMC.

My Log File : http://pastebin.com/dptMmcXe

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

SlickRed

95% it's corrupt xml but we should never crash so please make it reproducable for us.

Sorry guys, here you go:

remote.xml : http://pastebin.com/a5SUGJEZ
Lircmap.xml : http://pastebin.com/PZrwcqM2

Is there a different log I should be posting? The one I posted above is /USER/.xbmc/temp.xbmc.log

If there is another file you need pastebinned please let me know.

Cheers!

SlickRed

EDIT: The only change I had made was to the remote.xml file :
"<red>XBMC.ActivateWindow(Home)</red>" to "<red>FullScreen</red>"

Anyone got any ideas on this? Is there something else I need to provide or should I just reinstall?

Thats not where they go. There is a reason they were not there.

We need the crashlog that's written to your home directory.
