[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC

I think it will be possible to do this by creating a small autoit script : http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs...tLabel.htm

I did this by setting up a few emulators, game folders, artwork, etc. I then created some additional buttons to launch system specific games (like SNES, MAME, etc.) by adding them to favorites.

After doing this, I would have thought that when I select the "Games" button it would take me to game specific folders/items, but it shows the entire list of launch-able items I created with Advanced Launcher instead of just my games (or game related material). For example, it shows my emulator/games folders as well as the launcher for Chrome (internet browser), and whatever else I set Advanced Launcher up to launch. Is there a way to fix this so it only offers game specific choices when going into "games" or does that button simply operate as a way to access advanced launcher and everything you set up in it?

I also asked this in the Xperience forum, but responses seem few and far between.
Advanced Launcher is not specifically dedicated for games. It make no difference between application (game, www browser, comic or pdf viewer, etc... ). Using the XBMC favourites support you can create shortcuts to :
  • the complete Advanced Launcher content.
  • a specfic launcher (stand-alone of files launchers)
  • or a specific item (used by files launchers)
You cannot create shortcut to a group of selected launchers or items.

Actually the way you can bypass this is to duplicate the advanced launcher add-on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gMFJcxdcEg). By doing this you can use one version of Advanced Launcher only for Games (and so point the Game skin shortcut to this version) and a second version of Advanced Launcher only for your other applications.

Are you sure that your "C:\XBMC media\Emuladores\SNES\roms\" folder contains zip, smc or sfc files?

Yes, two files for testing:

C:\XBMC media\Emuladores\SNES\roms\Star_Fox.smc
C:\XBMC media\Emuladores\SNES\roms\Super Mario World (U) [!].smc
I wish to have Rotten Tomatoes (user+critics) + IMDB both ratings display in skin.

Ok... Have you tried to add them to the launcher : "Add items" option from the launcher context menu ("C" key)? Items are no automatically added. Once you have created the launcher you need to add the linked items manually or automatically (by making a scan). Also do not forget to setup the scraper before adding the items.

Oh, you are right, forgot to scan for new content. Working fine now.

Thanks.

No, if you stop process it will not save anything.

Copy/paste 50-100 items into the defined directory, and perform a scan. Copy/paste more 50-100 items into the same directory, and perform another scan, etc... You know the goal of Advanced Launcher is made to start application and play files, not to manage an items collection. I have never understand the interest to have a 20.000 games/roms collection if you only play less of 1% of them. Wink

I like to consider myself a gamer....so i play all games....granted i may not end up enjoying them all bt why would i limit myself

although my luck worked it magic again....i got through about 92% of the initial games i loaded which was probably about 700 and prob about 7-8 hours of my time and for some reason xbmc decided to freak out and refresh itself so I lost 7-8 hours worth of work...the art that was downloaded was still there but all the files AL loaded was now lost

believe me if I would had known in the beginning this was possible obviously i would have done it different...but when i thought to ask about it i was prob 20-30% into it so i thought i would ride it out....oh well

yes i understand the purpose of your program and am thankful to have it.....no complaints from me now that i know what im getting into

I would love to have an offline program so i dont have to tie up my main xbmc box but again im happy to have it
i just ownt be trying to add any where near that many items at once again lol

You just have to use the DriveGetLabel() function to get the label of your DVD drive then you start Auto Rip n Compress with this label as argument.

I understand that it could be frustrating to lost information. When you scan items, images (thumbs and fanarts) are saved locally and information are stored into launchers.xml file. This file also contain launchers and items organization and application configuration for Advanced Launcher. If this file is corrupted you will lost launchers setup but also items information. You can save items information using the NFO export option of Advanced Launcher. It will save all your items information into individual files. Then if your launchers.xml file is corrupted or you want to reinstall XBMC/Advanced Launcher you can quickly rebuild your item collection only using local NFO files and images files (without using scrapers).
Hi, is there a way to either delay the minimizing of XBMC, or pre-load the launching of MCE when using Advanced Launcher and a batch file.

I am a noob trying to muddle through launching MCE directly to Live TV, TV Guide, Netflix, etc. from within XBMC. Based on various information I gathered, I cobbled together a method which works pretty well, using lnk files and AutoHotKey to utilize the ESC button to exit MCE and get back to XBMC. You can see it in the thread MCE Live TV (and MCE Netflix) XBMC Integration

While it works well, username145 pointed out that they use a batch file (using nircmd and pssuspend) to do the same thing, but suspending XBMC while MCE is active, thus taxing the CPU less. The code they suggested is:

Code:
nircmd win min process XBMC.exe
pssuspend XBMC.exe
cd "C:\pathtoyourlnk"
mce.lnk
pssuspend -r XBMC.exe
nircmd win max process XBMC.exe

I tried it and it works great, actually making things a bit smoother while in MCE (if XBMC is not suspended, I do get a verry slight stutter at times), so I'd love to change to that.

But my issue is that the transition between XBMC and MCE exposes the desktop for about a second, which is visually a bit jarring.

This is why I am hoping that there is a way to use the above batch file, but somehow preload MCE before XBMC is minimized, and unsuspend and maximize the XBMC upon pressing the ESC key, before exiting MCE.

Does anyone have a solution to this?
With the Eden version of XBMC, there is no way to avoid XBMC to be reduced or minimized when yo start an application or a script with Advanced Launcher. If you do not want to see your desktop : select a complete black wallpaper, hide all desktop icons and hide the taskbar then you will have a complete black screen transition when you will start MCE from XBMC.
