On-screen keyboard adds erroneous spaces

Every time I enter a character on the on-screen keyboard, a space is inserted afterward. I don't have the slightest clue how to debug this.

I'm running RC1 on Ubuntu 8.04.4 on an Apple TV (an upgraded version of pin's image).
