Japanese (utf8) album data not shown
#1
I have quite a few albums in my collection with Japanese album and song titles. All are in .flac files with the metadata encoded in utf8. Several other programs display the Japanese text without problem. XMBC displays empty squares instead of the Japanese characters, as if it is using a font without those characters.

I'm running on 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04LTS. When I view the track data through uPnP Inspector from my DNLA server, the Japanese text is displayed correctly. It is only XMBC that has problems showing it. I tried switching the charset to ShiftJIS in the XMBC settings. Unsurprisingly, it did not help.

I am running version 2:10.1RC1-lucid1 (aka Dharma).

Thanks for the suggestion. It did not help.

I tried with charset set to default and to ShiftJIS. There is no UTF-8 setting in charset. Is the default utf8?

Oops. It does work with the arial fontset and default charset after restarting XBMC.
