Cheapest off the shelf computer with HDMI and 1080p?
#16
So just out of curiosity... if I managed to pick up one of the Aspire Revo's, should I run it as is? What advantages are there to going through the trouble of ditching XP Home and installing and configuring Ubuntu and all the add-ons I'd need?

Windows XP lacks the necessary backend to play 1080p content, so without XBMC Live a Revo is limited to only SD content.

Plus XBMC Live has built in support for Windows Media Center remotes so it is very easy to get it working. Just basically install it over XP and enjoy....

Only wireless I've seen fast enough is the linksys gaming adapter (or bridge) that supports full 802.11n (even 5ghz). Those work quite well if you have a nice N router to go with them. The built-in and usb cards are junk... that gaming adapter is solid.
